The year 2018 has been a mixed bag of events for the Canada immigration applicants. In 2018, a record number of people got invitation through Canada’s most popular online immigration system, i.e. Express Entry System. However, interestingly, the cut off marks or minimum CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) requirement never went below 439 mark in this year. Read here latest news
This is in fact, interesting as, in the year prior to that, i.e. in year 2017, qualifying marks went down to its lowest, i.e. 413 CRS points, but today, it’s not the year with highest number of invitations. It’s the year 2018 that holds the record for issuing the highest number of invitations via express entry, i.e. 89,800 despite no real reduction in the minimum CRS score requirement. Now, the Canada PR aspirants, who are applying permanent residency visa in Canada for the very first, time confuse about choosing the right visa program to apply Canada PR in 2019.
Apply Canada PR in 2019 via express entry system
Express Entry system shall obviously be the key program to apply Canadian PR in the year 2019. It is the point based online immigration system launched by IRCC in 2015. Since then, it has become the spearhead of Canadian immigration.
How it works?
It’san online point based system, which is based on six selection factors, i.e. age, education, work experience, language skills, adaptability and arranged employment. To register profile on EE system, you require language proficiency test (English or French) as well as Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a recognized institution, i.e. WES (World Education Service). Once these two things are ready, you are good to create a profile on express entry. if you are applying as an overseas skilled worker, you need to register profile under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category and obtain minimum 67 points (based on six selection factors) to qualify as an applicant and reach to second stage, i.e. Express Entry pool.
In EE pool, you again will be assessed based on same selection factors and will be given a point score, called CRS score out of 1200 points. You must score good enough score to come in merit list and get invite in any of the express entry draws. In 2018, the cut off score remained around 440-450 mark, however in 2019, it may reduce depending on IRCC’s decision. If you are able to acquire Invitation to Apply (ITA) any of the draws, you will get 60 days to submit complete Canada PR application.
Apply through PNPs
Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) also provide the pathway to get Canadian permanent residency through the provincial nomination. Most of the Canadian provinces has a Provincial Nominee Program through which they invite the applicants and nominate the selected applicants for Canadian permanent residency.
The provincial nomination helps an applicant to get Canadian permanent residency invitation from IRCC. Every PNP of Canada has different streams, which you can select based on your profile and candidature. If your CRS score is low in express entry, PNPs provide you the alternate pathway to get Canadian PR.
