The federal government in Canada plans to process the Work and Live Visa faster than the usual in next year. This step will be taken as a part of a Global Skills Strategy that’s likely to be initiated in the year 2017.

As a vital part of Global Skills Strategy initiative, the priority processing time of 2 weeks shall begin in 2017, for a few specific Work and Live Visas that fall in high demand and low risk category.

The Global Skill Strategy measures will include the following:

  • A committed service channel shall be formed for organizations looking to make huge investments in Canada for job creation
  • In low-risk fields, Work and Live Visa requirement for very short-term work (i.e. 30 days or less) to be dropped. Short academic stays would also be included in this.
