This seems to be a new trend among the different Immigration Programs of Canada to launch specific draws to invite immigrant workers from IT Sector. Canada needs close to 200,000 ICT professionals in next two years and the different Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada is contributing to the task by targeting more and more ICT professionals in their respective application intakes and periodic immigration draws.
Trend of Targeting ICT Occupations
Recently, Ontario province of Canada announced that it will target the ICT Occupations in the express entry system while issuing NOI (Notification of Interest) to them for applying in its popular PNP, i.e. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
The other Provincial Nominee Programs are also the following the similar strategies to focus on ICT professionals, i.e. Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, etc. Moreover, Canada’s Global Talent Stream (GTS) also allows Canadian employers to hire foreign ICT workers in quick time through fast work permit.
BCPNP is targeting IT Professionals
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) – the popular provincial nominee program British Columbia province of Canada has started organizing the immigration draws that focus on the tech professionals only. The BCPNP is the key PNP of British Columbia that nominates those foreign skilled workers for Canada PR, who want to settle in BC. Between May to July 2017, the BCPNP has launched six draws targeting ICT workers.

The BCPNP has made some key categories to invite candidates to register via SIRS, i.e. skilled workers, international graduates, and entry level and semi-skilled workers.
However, no update is revealed till date by the province concerning issuance of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) under tech only immigration draws.
