Express Entry System 67 Points ThresholdFirst of all, as an applicant, you must understand that Express Entry System is not a Permanent Residence Program, it is just an online point based system through which you can register your profile an receive ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR). Once you create your profile as a foreign skilled worker, you must be eligible for any of the three key programs of federal express entry system, i.e.

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This program is for skilled workers having one-year full-time experience in the skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of NOC (National Occupational Classification).
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): The FSTP program has been designed for the people having at least two years of full-time work experience in Skilled Trades.
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This program is for the people who have 12 months full-time work experience in Canada.

If a candidate scores 67 points based on his/her age, education, work experience, language skills, etc. and meets criteria of any of the above programs, he/she becomes eligible to get selected in federal express entry pool of candidates. The candidate registered in express entry pool also get a definite score based on Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) called CRS score. Candidates get selected for ITA (Invitation to Apply) from the express entry pool based on their CRS score. ITA for Canada PR based on CRS ScoreAs already confirmed, every candidate who finds the place in express entry pool is given a definite CRS score based on his/her work experience, age, language ability, qualification, etc. factors. The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) launches a draw called Express Entry Draw, every fortnight and announce a cut-off score for the draw as well. The applicants achieving the cut off marks (CRS score requirement) receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) from IRCC. The CRS score requirement from IRCC in the latest express entry draw launched on May 17, 2017 was 415 points or more. Hence, obtaining 67 points makes you eligible to submit profile in Express Entry system under any of three economic immigration programs of Canada, while CRS score makes you eligible to receive ITA for Canada PR from IRCC via any of its periodic draws.
