3 New Regional Visas of Australia 2019- Find out New PR Pathway through regional Migration

The Australian government has announced multiple immigration rule changes in April 2019. Among all other rule changes announced recently by the government, the introduction of 3 new visa categories and changes in Immigration point system with effect from November 16, 2019, stands out. The upcoming changes in the Australia Immigration point system, we have already explained in our separate news article and blogs, etc., hence, in this post, we will discuss the 3 new visas announced by the Aussie government.

3 New Visas Announced by Australia

The government has announced 3 new visa categories last month. Two of them are regional visas, while one is a Permanent Residence (PR) Visa. Find Below the three new visas announced by the government:

  • Regional Provisional Skilled Work Subclass 491-(Will take Effect from November 16, 2019)

This will be a point based visa nominated by a state or territory government agency. This visa can also be sponsored by a family member living in the designated regional area.

  • Employer-Sponsored Regional Subclass 494 Visa- (Will take Effect from November 16, 2019)

The particular Visa will support the regional Australia employers to hire foreign skilled workers. This visa will be under the Labour and Employer-Sponsored Agreement.

  • Skilled Regional Subclass 191 Permanent Residence Visa-(Will take Effect from November 16, 2022)

The first two are temporary regional visas, while the third one, i.e. Subclass 191 is a permanent residence visa. Also, the first two will be implemented from this year only as mentioned above, however, Subclass 191 visa will take effect after 3 years, i.e. in 2022.Subclass 191 visa aims to offer permanent residency pathway to people who decide to settle in the regional part of Australia. Also, the upcoming permanent visa will be open for specifically skilled people only, who have already lived and worked in Australia for three years or above, w.e.f. 16th November 2022. The Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Mr. David Coleman, recently released an illuminating statement about the New Skilled Regional Visas Migration Amendment Regulations 2019.It describes the general requirements for the PR visa, i.e. Health, character, Security, etc.

Who can Apply for Subclass 191 Permanent Residence visa?

Well, this new Subclass 191 Permanent Residence visa can only be applied by those individuals, who already hold the below new visas as on November 16, 2022 (for 3 years).

  • Subclass 494 visa and
  • Subclass 491 Visa.

Also, they must have earned enough income while being in regional Australia on the above visa subclasses.

Australia Announced to Remove Two Key Visas

The government has also announced to remove the below two visa categories:

  • Regional Provisional Skilled Subclass 489 Visa
  • Regional Migration Sponsored Scheme Subclass 187 Visa

The two of the visas mentioned above will remove these visa categories. Lets take a look.
